Cantrell Construction and the Festool Domino

Cantrell Construction Domino Joiner

Join Mike Cantrell of Cantrell Construction as he shares his story as a craftsperson and how the Festool Domino XL Joiner has allowed him to produce exceptional products for his clients.

In this particular project, his client wanted four large sliding barn doors. Mike used nearly every Festool in his shop to construct the doors. The TS 75 Track Saw for straight line ripping lumber, his Rotex RO 125 and DTS 400 Sanders, and most importantly his Domino XL Joiner.

According to Mike, the only reason his client could afford the doors is because of the time savings of the Domino mortise and tenon joinery. With the Domino XL Joiner, he was able to mortise all of the joints in the door in less than ten minutes, a process that used to take significantly longer. Also, Mike says that the joinery is much stronger than joinery methods he had previously used. With about 80-something tenons in the doors, it took Mike about an hour and a half to complete.

Mike describes his work as art. When it's hand-made, there's a story behind what he creates. At the end of the day, when you're proud of what you've done, that's craftsmanship at its finest and we're proud to be a part of it at Festool.

When you want something to last, you don't cut corners, you cut Domino mortises.

Planex Popcorn Removal

Watch the Video

Check out this video from Scott Montgomery, a drywall professional in Canada, as he uses thePLANEX Drywall Sander as an "popcorn un-maker", removing a textured ceiling. The PLANEX makes a task that's usually messy and labor intensive into an easy process. Even better, you don't have to wait for the ceiling to dry before you can refinish it like you would if you were scraping off the popcorn using a wet method.

Please note: Always test popcorn textures for asbestos and use best practices for safe removal.

I've always wondered why painters wear white. After all, they'll get paint on themselves which will stand out against the white, right? By the same logic, you'd think it'd be crazy for a drywall installer to wear dark colors since they'll end up looking like a powdered donut by the end of the day... Mmmm, donuts. Well, with the Planex Drywall Sander, you and your clients' residence or business won't end up coated in fine drywall dust. It's like magical German dust evaporating technology.

The guys at Precision Taping are at the top of their trade when it comes to drywall and vinyl trim installation. Just check out some of their YouTube videos and you'll quickly see that you need to brush up on your drywall skills. They achieve exceptional finishes by using smart, efficient, time saving tools like the PLANEX. There's no question why they get to work on high end residences with the quality of work they do. Granted, there's no substitute for experience and skill, but the right tools will certainly amplify your capabilities and productivity.

Check out these guys in action with the PLANEX and you'll see what we mean...

PLANEX Level 6

According to the Gypsum Association's GA 214-10 publication regarding the Recommended Levels of Gypsum Board Finish, the best finish that you can achieve is a Level 5 finish. Well, upgrade to the PLANEX Drywall Sander and CT AutoClean Dust Extractor to take your finishes to a "6".

Ok, so admittedly there's no such thing as a level 6 finish, but if there was you'd be able to achieve it quickly, easily and virtually dust free with the PLANEX Drywall Sander. Experience drywall finishing at level 6 with the PLANEX today. Try it risk-free for yourself for up to 30 days to see if the PLANEX lives up to the hype with our money-back guarantee.

Topcoat Finishes and Festool

Thursday, February 6, 2014 | Reader Comments | Paint

Scott Burt and Todd Pudvar of Topcoat Finishes, a residential painting company of 20 years, share their experiences using Festool sanders and HEPA dust extractors. The use of tools in the paint industry has remained largely unchanged for decades, but professional painters now have a way to produce faster, superior results without creating a mess using Festool. Historically, painters had come to expect that surface preparation was at least half the job, but Festool sanders combined with Granat abrasives excels at turning this tedious task into quick work. Festool HEPA Dust Extractors are the key ingredient to allow you to work virtually dust free without the need erecting barriers, which is time consuming and unprofitable. The most important testament to the benefits of Festool come in the form of satisfied clients that are eager to create additional business in the form of referrals. Being open to change the way you work is critical to advancing as a company. Festool is your partner to rise above the competition and take your business to the next level.
