Marc discusses the terminology, tools and techniques of sanding.
Marc Spagnuolo, the Wood Whisperer, has covered the topic of sanding in many of his videos, touting the advantages of Festool sanders and dust extractors in producing a remarkable surface quickly and easily. In this video, Marc covers some important topics about sanding, particularly as it relates to the selection of the correct abrasive.
Only a Full Unit Certified HEPA dust extractor meets the EPA RRP regulation guidelines, protecting you from expensive fines!
All current Festool CT Dust Extractor models, shipped to dealers as of October 2011, have been independently tested and certified to be FULL UNIT HEPA Dust Extractors. When you purchase a new Festool CT Dust Extractor, regardless of model, you will find a printed certificate in the box as well as labeling on the dust extractor documenting its Full Unit HEPA certification.
If you are a contractor or remodeler working on projects impacted by the EPA's RRP regulations, and your current vacuum only has a HEPA filter, without Full Unit HEPA Certification, then you are at risk of being cited for non-compliance with the updated requirements. Simply put, there's absolutely no substitute for Full Unit HEPA Certification when using your vacuum for EPA RRP.
There's little doubt that EPA RRP inspectors will see Festool's Full Unit HEPA Certification as the standard by which all other manufacturers are measured. After all, this certification fully meets all of the requirements of the EPA RRP regulations when other manufacturers' vacuums only meet a portion of the requirements.
The arm-wrenching torque of the T18 can be yours on Oct. 1st!
Our good friend Dave Reinhold, a finish carpenter from New Jersey, took the opportunity to review the new T18 Lithium Ion Brushless Cordless Drill for us. Dave is a guy just like you, out on the jobsite every day using his tools to make a living. He's been in the industry for 14 years and works for a home builder primarily in new construction. Take a few minutes to check out his walk through of the features and components. Then, watch him put the T18 to the test and use it in some practical applications around the jobsite.
An introduction to QR Codes.
You may have noticed that, for the past year or so, Festool has been putting these weird looking codes on advertisements in magazines, posters in stores and in our catalogs. So what are they and how are they used? They are called QR (Quick Response) Codes and can be scanned by most smartphones, tablet computers and similar devices to take you to a website. This puts the information you're looking for right at your fingertips, quick and convenient.
Festool CT MINI & MIDI models get an upgrade.
Continuing to raise the bar in performance, Festool has made some improvements to the CT MINI and MIDI. New units will come standard with a HEPA filter factory installed and the new self-cleaning filter bags that were introduced last year in the CT 26 and CT 36. And, the best part... the price remains unchanged.
New for October 2011 - The CT 48 Dust Extractor.
This time last year, we were announcing the introduction of the new CT 26 and CT 36 Dust Extractors which incorporate numerous upgrades from the previous models of Festool Dust Extractors. Now, we're introducing the newest and largest Dust Extractor in our CT family, the new CT 48 (584 084) coming October 2011. If you need lots of capacity, this behemoth is for you!
Owners of CT MINI and MIDI Dust Extractors can now enjoy the benefits of self-cleaning filter bags, a new style of bag that was introduced with the new CT 26 and 36 models. Pricing of the new bags will remain the same as the previous traditional paper bags. See your preferred Festool dealer for availability.
If you've used other dust extractors, you may have experienced the issue of fine dust particles becoming caked to the inner lining of the vacuum bag. Festool has solved this problem by creating a filter bag from a fleece material that is designed to collapse and expand as the power is cycled on the dust extractor. This causes the dust cake to break up and disperse to the bottom of the bag.
