Join Mike Cantrell of Cantrell Construction as he shares his story as a craftsperson and how the Festool Domino XL Joiner has allowed him to produce exceptional products for his clients.
In this particular project, his client wanted four large sliding barn doors. Mike used nearly every Festool in his shop to construct the doors. The TS 75 Track Saw for straight line ripping lumber, his Rotex RO 125 and DTS 400 Sanders, and most importantly his Domino XL Joiner.
According to Mike, the only reason his client could afford the doors is because of the time savings of the Domino mortise and tenon joinery. With the Domino XL Joiner, he was able to mortise all of the joints in the door in less than ten minutes, a process that used to take significantly longer. Also, Mike says that the joinery is much stronger than joinery methods he had previously used. With about 80-something tenons in the doors, it took Mike about an hour and a half to complete.
Mike describes his work as art. When it's hand-made, there's a story behind what he creates. At the end of the day, when you're proud of what you've done, that's craftsmanship at its finest and we're proud to be a part of it at Festool.
When you want something to last, you don't cut corners, you cut Domino mortises.
